Paris sits on the Seine and is divided into twenty arrondissements. The Eiffel Tower went up for the 1889 Universal Exposition, the Louvre is the largest and most-visited museum in the world, and Notre-Dame, begun in 1163, reopened on December 7, 2024. Charles de Gaulle Airport is 14 miles northeast of the city in Roissy-en-France, the busiest airport in the EU in 2024 and the main hub for Air France, with RER B and TGV train stations on site.
The airport’s route map doesn’t list a nonstop between Indianapolis and Paris, and every itinerary Google Flights priced on October 9 for the dates we read connected at least once. The cheapest fare on all three sets of dates was United at $747 for two days, leaving January 9, February 1 or March 1, and Swiss with United through Zurich sold at the same price. On the February 1 dates the way out was a single stop in Chicago and the trip took 11 hours 12 minutes going out and 12 hours 1 minute coming back. The January 9 dates were the long version: the way out took 29 hours 44 minutes, with an 11-hour layover in Washington Dulles and a second stop in Newark. That trip lands in Paris at 7:25 AM on January 11 and the flight home leaves at 12:15 PM the same day, so it’s two days on paper and under five hours on the ground. Aer Lingus through Dublin was $782 on the March dates and Brussels Airlines with United was $793. The lowest round trip we’ve recorded on this route is $566, from October 30 to November 6, 2024.
