Orlando is the inland city in the middle of Florida, 42 miles from the Atlantic and 77 from the Gulf, and the theme parks south and west of the city are the draw. Walt Disney World is about 21 miles southwest of the city in Bay Lake, Universal is the one major park inside the city limits, and International Drive is the 11-mile strip of hotels and attractions between them. Two airports serve it: Orlando International, six miles southeast of downtown and the busiest airport in Florida, and Orlando Sanford, a smaller airport in Sanford, outside the city, that Allegiant has flown from since 1998 and that sits farther from downtown and from Disney.
Indianapolis has nonstops to both Orlando airports, and the airport’s route map lists both as year-round. On the dates we read, Frontier and Southwest flew Orlando International nonstop and Allegiant flew Sanford nonstop. The lowest fare we’ve priced into Orlando International is $89 on Frontier, for two days leaving November 18, on Google Flights on October 19 and again on October 21, and the lowest into Sanford is $106 on Allegiant, for eleven days leaving January 11.
